Your Wireless Devices Are Now OBD-II Tools
Finally, an automotive scan device that truly allows you to take advantage of popular consumer wireless technology. The OT-2 is an OBD-II Wi-Fi/USB Interface for Smartphones and handheld devices with access to the LogWorks Mobile app, as well as PCs. Connecting to your vehicle's onboard computer network via its OBD-II (On Board Diagnostic) port, located under the dashboard and standard on virtually every car and light truck manufactured in the US since 1996, the OT-2's built-in 16-pin OBD-II connector is capable of reading up to 16 channels of diagnostic information generated by your vehicles onboard computer network and integrate it into an Innovate Modular Tuning System (MTS) "Log Chain." The OT-2 then makes this information available to you via your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or PC as a hotspot (also via USB connection in the case of the PC).

The free LogWorks software channels this information into several different diagnostic datapoints. These include a dyno digital dashboard, a programmable system of performance oriented gauges; a fuel efficiency meter, allowing you to track your driving habits and see them in real-time; a data logger which allows you to track, record and even e-mail yourself different pieces of data for viewing offline; and an OBD-II scan tool which gives you the ability to read and erase diagnostic trouble codes and their definitions. Additional features include compatibility with all Innovate Motorsports MTS (Modular Tuning System) devices, the ability to update the OT-2's firmware via a USB connection to the Internet and access to select LogWorks Mobile software functionality without an OT-2 connection.

What is OBD-II
Beginning in the 1980s new cars and trucks began to be wired with a variety of computerized diagnostic systems designed to improve efficiencies, simplify troubleshooting and minimize the need for repairs. These systems produce indicators known as diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) internally, usually indicating something out of the ordinary by illuminating the "check engine"/malfunction indicator light (MIL) on the dashboard of your car. In the 1990s these systems, codes and the hardware connectors used to access them were standardized in North America as OBD (Onboard Diagnostics) and later OBD-II. Automotive technicians have long utilized specialized high-end machinery to read these codes, passing the costs on to consumers, but now you can get access to the same diagnostic codes and additional information quickly and inexpensively right on your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and PC with Innovate Motorsports' OT-2.

  • Urgency Indicators display seriousness of the problem
  • Save time and money by diagnosing codes yourself instead of going to a mechanic
  • When a problem is fixed turn the check engine light off without visiting a mechanic
The next time your vehicle's Check Engine Light comes on, will you know what to do? The Black & Decker Smart Scan AD925 Diagnostic Tool quickly and easily provides color-coded diagnostic information--detailing both the cause of the Check Engine Light, and severity of the problem. This information can potentially save you hundreds or thousands of dollars in costly repair bills.

The Smart Scan AD925 easily connects
to both your vehicle and computer.

Get Critical Information That's Easy To Understand
The compact Black & Decker Smart Scan AD925 is compatible with virtually all automobiles sold in North America after 1995. It easily attaches to your vehicle's ODB-II port, which is typically located under the dash near the steering column. Once connected, the Smart Scan A925's Urgency Indicator will instantly alert you to the severity of the problem and tell you if it's safe to continue driving. An arrow pointing the green bar indicates no problem, while an arrow pointing to the yellow bar indicates that the vehicle should be examined in the next 5 days. When the arrow points to the amber bar, a mechanic should check the vehicle before further damage occurs. If the arrow points to the red bar, an immediate repair is needed.

The Smart Scan AD925 also provides you with the diagnostic codes that are causing the Check Engine Light to come on. These are the same codes that a mechanic uses to diagnose and repair your car. The Smart Scan AD925 stores these codes in its memory, and can be attached to your computer through a USB connection for in-depth research on Black & Decker's Check Engine Light Help Center. This site provides you with probable causes for the Check Engine Light, symptoms you might experience, and tells you what components are most likely involved. The USB connection also provides updates to the Smart Scan AD925, allowing you to stay current with new diagnostic codes. Black & Decker also includes a compact code reference guide for on-the-road diagnostics. Once you have determined what codes are causing the Check Engine Light to come on, the Smart Scan AD925 gives you the option of erasing the codes and turning off the Check Engine Light--all without visiting a mechanic.

Go online with the AD925 for in-depth diagnostic information.

Save Money and Be Informed When You Talk To Your Technician
The information provided by the Black & Decker Smart Scan AD925 can potentially save owners hundreds or thousands of dollars in repairs. Do-it-yourselfers can catch and repair minor issues before they become large, expensive problems. What's more, the Smart Scan AD925 arms automobile owners of all experience levels with the information they need before visiting a mechanic. This knowledge can help prevent you from being charged for costly, unnecessary repairs.
When your "Check Engine" light comes on, the Black & Decker AD950 self-diagnostic tool displays the same information stored in a car’s computer that a mechanic uses to diagnose and fix problems. When the "Check Engine" light comes on, for cars manufactured after 1995, insert the SmartScan in the OBDII port near the steering wheel column. The easy-to-read LED screen displays the fault code – the same information a mechanic will see – for why the "Check Engine" light illuminated. The SmartScan is sold with a reference manual of the fault codes which easily stores in the glove compartment. Urgency Indicators also display how serious the problem is. Arrow pointing to green bar indicates the car’s computer is not reporting a problem, and the Smart Scan has the ability to turn off the “Check Engine” light. Arrow pointing to yellow bar indicates the car should be looked at in the next five days. Arrow pointing to amber bar indicates a mechanic should see the car soon before further damage can occur. Arrow pointing to red bar indicates an immediate repair is needed. Catch minor problems before they become big – and expensive. Visit a mechanic armed with knowledge about what is wrong, including which parts might be affected, and don’t be charged for unnecessary repairs. If buying a used car, evaluate the overall condition of the car before purchasing.

Real-time Fuel Economy Via Graphic Feedback

ScanGaugeE is a unique dashboard mounted tool that provides you with real-time information about your vehicle's immediate fuel economy, relevant engine processes and a wide range of other important data points which it gathers from your vehicle's onboard computer system and relates to you by way of an intuitive graphic display. Problems surrounding the rising cost of automotive fuels and the impact that driving has on the environment are here to stay. But according to a report issued by the US government, adjusting your driving habits can increase fuel-economy by up to 33%. In addition, we all have a carbon footprint - the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that each of us is personally responsible for releasing into the environment by our actions. The good news is that drivers can easily adjust their driving style to improve fuel economy in the short and long-term, lower their CO2 emissions and even monitor and troubleshoot diagnostic information that your vehicle automatically generates via its network of onboard computers with the instant feedback provided by ScanGaugeE.

The OBD-II cable included with the ScanGaugeE
Connects in seconds and is powered by your vehicle's OBD-II port.

    Three Tools in One

The ScanGaugeE draws diagnostic information from your vehicle's OBD-II port and funnels this into useful automotive data points. These data points are organized into three areas of functionality designed to maximize useful real-time information, no matter the user. These groupings are: trip computer, digital gauges and scan tool.

    Trip Computer

The trip computer functionality built into the ScanGaugeE automatically tracks five sets of trip data: current trip, today's trip, previous day's trip, current tank trip and tank to empty. Each of these features 11 individually stored parameters. These data parameter points include:

    • Fuel economy
    • Fuel used
    • Maximum coolant temperature
    • Distance
    • Maximum RPM
    • Drive time
    • Maximum speed
    • Average speed
    • Current tank of fuel information
      • Distance to empty
      • Time to empty
      • Fuel to empty
    Digital Gauges

The digital gauge functionality of the ScanGaugeE allows for up to five gauge sets: three built-in and two custom. These include: fuel efficiency screen, CO2 screen, fuel cost screen, and your two customizable screens. Examples of customizable gauge screens include:

    • Fuel economy (MPG or liters/100Km)
    • Fuel rate (GPH or LPH)
    • Ignition Timing (before and after TDC)
    • Manifold pressure (not available on some vehicles)
    • Tachometer (RPM) - accurate to within 1 RPM
    • Engine load
    • Throttle position
    • Digital speedometer (MPH or KPH adjustable for tire size or gearing changes)
    • Battery voltage (reads to 0.1-volts)
    • Coolant temperature
    • Intake air temperature
    • Open/closed loop
    • CO2 (displays current and trip CO2 production)
    Scan Tool

Modern vehicles are constantly monitoring themselves via their internal computer systems, with the result being the output of diagnostic codes, but these codes are usually not readable without a code reader. The ScanGaugeE allows you to troubleshoot your own vehicle, read these error codes -- the conditions present when the error occurred -- and the turn off the "Check Engine" light. Taken together, these abilities help avoid costly trips to the mechanic we could all do without.

    • Reads and clears trouble codes
    • Shows conditions when trouble was detected
    • Turns off "Check Engine" lamp
    • Shows when emissions tests have been completed and vehicle is ready to pass OBD-II emissions testing

    What is OBD-II?

Since 1996 standardized Onboard Diagnostic systems -- currently OBD-II -- have been mandated for virtually all cars and light trucks manufactured for the US market. These provide automotive technicians and DIYers with insight into the increasingly complex inner workings of modern passenger vehicles. Traditionally professional grade diagnostic results required large and/or expensive scanning tools to translate diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and other data generated by the internal computer networks of your vehicle when the check engine/malfunction indicator light (MIL) on the dashboard goes off, but the Scan Tool functionality of the the ScanGaugeE provides an affordable option that allows access to much of this information.

Easy Installation with No Tools Required

ScanGaugeE installs in just minutes without tools and does not require batteries or an external power source. Simply plug the CAT-5 style end of the included cable into the back of the unit, and plug the opposite end, which terminates in an OBD-II connector, into your vehicle's OBD-II port. Virtually every vehicle manufactured since 1996 has an OBD-II port, usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side. This port is standardized ensuring that the ScanGaugeE cable connector will fit. All power used is drawn from this connection and it serves as an interface to your vehicle's onboard diagnostic computer network. The detachable six (6) foot cord along with the Velcro attachment system for the display also allows ScanGaugeE to be mounted just about anywhere on the dash or console while staying connected to your vehicle.

Many tools have already been developed to access these powerful on-board vehicle computers, but the Equus tool is particularly simple to use and surprisingly affordable. It is designed to be used by almost anyone, from the weekend mechanic to the ASE master technician. The 3130 CanOBD II/2 scanner is designed to retrieve diagnostic codes in all OBD II (1996 and newer). The scanner features a unique patented all-in-one screen display and LED display for quick OBD I/M emissions check, so you'll know if you're ready to pass those ever-increasingly stringent laws. Equus built the 3120 to display on-screen DTC definitions and user interfaces in English, Spanish, or French, and the trilingual language selection is accessed via a simple menu command. This device also stores diagnostic codes in a handy memory for off-car review and analysis. The 3120 is also equipped with the ability to connect to your PC. With the included cables and software you can connect the scanner to your computer to generate, print, and save detailed diagnostic reports, and even update the 3130 via the Internet.

The 3130 links to all OBD II protocols including CAN (Controller Area Network). The tool captures and displays freeze frame data that will help you pinpoint and troubleshoot any problem. This device is equipped to retrieve the following OBD II diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs): Generic Codes (P0, P2, P3, and U0) and Manufacturer Specific Codes (P1, P3, and U1). In addition, the tool provides live data (view, record, and playback live PCM data streams), bi-directional testing, vehicle ID capture, and O2 sensor results.
